Anti-racism Day
This poem is dedicated to all those marching in Glasgow and London today, Cardiff tomorrow and all those marching in cities across Europe to commemorate Anti-racism da- I salute you!
Marching in March
After time hibernating unable to physically protest
Protecting ourselves and those we love from catching Covid-19
Locked up by lockdown, restrained by pandemic horror
We can once more take in the streets of the country
As we dust off our placards,
make sure our walking boots still fit and remain watertight
Getting over our fears of people standing too close
As we stand together and shout in unison
No to racism, get lost you nasty vile racists
We tell our own government to stop leaning towards the right
That we support our own citizens regardless of where they or
their families come from, whatever religion they follow
tell the world their as no borders in working-class communities
we stand together, we stand strong,
against bigotry and discrimination, wherever it comes from
so lets show our support and solidarity
come together, either in Cardiff, (20th) Glasgow, or London
on 19th Let us March in March to say no to racists and racism
we can’t stop till we remove racism and bigotry in all its
forms and facets from our streets from our society
as we shout out loud and proud
Whose streets, our streets
Whose society, our society
